Effendy, commenced playing at cards, and Nafiz Bey soon placed on the
carpet and staked a sehhim (note) for 500 piastres. This stake was
quickly gained by Hassib Effendy, whereupon Nafiz Bey, furious at
his loss, threw himself upon his guest, with the intention of wrenching
the note from his hands, but Hassib resisted; whereupon a
